12 feet × 4 feet

Explanation:

x² + 8x - 48 = 0

x² + 12x - 4x - 48 = 0

x(x + 12) - 4(x + 12) = 0

(x - 4)(x + 12) = 0

x = 4, -12

x = 4

New dimensions:

4 + 8 = 12

48/12 = 4

12*-4 = -48

12+-4 = 8

We cant have a negative length

x=4

The area is 48

48/4 = 12

The other dimension is 12
