Two children fear their neighbor, an elderly woman who

rarely goes outside. They invent stories about her, insisting
that she is secretly a witch. Eventually, one of the children's
mothers tells the children that the woman is lonely and has
a hard time moving quickly. The mother and the children
visit the woman, who turns out to be an excellent
storyteller. The children decide they like her.

Which statement most accurately describes two literary themes of the story?

A. One should always be willing to give people the benefit of the
doubt, even those who have treated one badly.

B. It is far better to rely on authorities to determine what is best for
you when you have limited information.

C. Even though the unknown can be scary, sometimes being
prejudiced limits one's own happiness.

D. The elderly have value because of their experience, but the young
have value because of their innocence.

Answer:

i would say c.

Step-by-step explanation:

A is wrong because the old lady hasn't treated them badly.

B is wrong because no one is determining whats best for someone.

C is RIGHT because being prejudice means judging someone or having an idea about them before you actually know anything about them. That's exactly what they did before getting to know the elderly woman.

D is wrong because its irrelevant to what the story 's theme is.

The answer is either C or A. I reccommend C more, though, it connects to the story more.
