Answer:

5/686

Explanation:

Red raffle tickets=5

Blue raffle tickets=7

Green raffle tickets= 2

Total raffle tickets=14

Three tickets were selected randomly with replacement

Probability of selecting Green tickets on her first two selections and red tickets on her third selection =propability of selecting Green raffle tickets twice and red raffle tickets once

=2/14×2/14×5/14

=1/7×1/7×5/14

=1/49×5/14

=5/686

Note: There are two green tickets and since it is selected with replacement, the total green tickets and the total raffle tickets doesn't change.

Answer:

5/168

Explanation:

Probability is the likelihood or chance that an event will occur.

Probability = Expected outcome/Total outcome.

According to the question, if the bag contains 5 red raffle tickets, 7 blue raffle tickets and 2 green raffle tickets, the total number of ticket is given as:

5+7+2 = 14tickets

The total outcome = 14.

If Jackie selects a green ticket on her first two selections, the probability of selecting a green twice from the bag and replacing it will be 2/14×2/14 = 4/48.

Note that the total number of ticket remains complete each time she selects since the ticket was always REPLACED.

If Jackie picks a red on her third selection, the probability of picking a red will be 5/14.

The probability that she selects a green ticket on her first two selections and a red ticket on her third selection will then be:

= 4/48 × 5/14

= 1/12×5/14

= 5/168
