Answer: During World War II, Winston Churchill had been Great Britain's leader. It was Churchill who invented the word Iron Curtain in a speech he gave in Missouri in 1946. It refers to the fact that soviet Union dominated Eastern Europe more or less. President Truman was inspired by Churchill's speech.
