A company recently started shipping its products in boxes with the following dimensions: 3 ft x 5 ft x 2 ft. The boxes the company previously used had dimensions of 4 ft x 2 ft x 2 ft. How much larger are the new boxes?

Volume of a rectangular prism = base x height x length

Replacing with the values given:

Old boxes volume: 4 x 2 x 2 =16 cubic feet

New boxes' volume: 3 x 5 x 2 = 30 cubic feet

Subtraction the old boxes volume to the new boxes volume:

30 ft3- 16 ft3 = 14 ft3
