Why did comets form in the Kuiper belt and not in the asteroid belt?

There are no rocky bodies in the asteroid belt.

The asteroid belt is too hot for comets to form.

The asteroid belt is too cold for comets to form.

The Kuiper belt is closer to the sun

(also the subject isn't right because it didn't say science)

Answer:

The asteroid belt is too hot for comets to form.

Step-by-step explanation:

Asteroids are made up of metals and rocky materials, while comets are basically ice, dust, few rocky materials and some organic compounds. Short period comets are formed in the Kuiper belt, and long period comets originate from the outer regions of the solar system. Short period comets orbit the sun completely in less than 200 years. Since they are mostly ice and dust, they cannot be formed in the asteroid belt.
