First of all - never do what Javier did!! You can’t separate things like that. It’s a violation of math (also it breaks my heart, and you don’t want that!).

Ivan is correct in taking out a factor of 2 from both the top and bottom.

6x+4 = 2(3x+2)

12x+4 = 2(6x+2)

The twos cancel, and you get 3x+2 / 6x+2.
