13 miles ÷ 50 miles per gallon

13 × 1/50 gallons per mile = 13/50 gallons = 0.26 gallons

Now for the second leg we went 68 miles per hour

The miles per gallon is 40 per the chart

We need to find the distance

1 hour 24 minutes = 1 24/60 hours = 1.4 hours

1.4 hours × 68 mph = 95.2 miles

95.2 miles ÷ 40 miles per gallon

95.2 × 1/40 gallons per mile = 2.38 gallons

Add the number of gallons together
