To figure out the answers, find the least common denominator (LCD) of the 2 fractions then add.

Explanation:

For example, the first one or #2 says 1/5+1/2. You must find the LCM of the denominators which here is 10 (5, 10, 15... <- 5’s multiples 2,4,6,8,10,12 <- 2’s multiples and they both have 10 as the least common multiplie), then multiply both the denominator and numerator (top number) by a number so the LCM (10 here) can be reached (by 2 for the first one then 5 for the second). This will make the numbers 2/10+5/10 which makes it easier to add. You then add the numerators (2+5) then voilà! You have your answer. (7/10) in this case, you don’t need to reduce, but if it was something like 5/10, you would need to find the number that can be divided by both (GCD or greatest common divisor). jere, it would be 5 so you would reduce to 1/2. I hope this doesn’t confuse you :/
