You are entering a pancake-eating contest! Each plate has a stack of pancakes 9 cm high. Each pancake has a diameter of 5 cm. If your stomach can hold about 1 liter (1,000 cubic centimeters), about how many plates of pancakes can your stomach hold?

The equation for the volume of a cylinder is V=πr²h (V=volume r=radius h=height) then you just have to fill in the variables so you would enter π(2.5²)9 to get your answer. You would divide the diameter in half to get the radius.

area of a cylinder is pie r squared times height

radius = half diameter

radius =2.5

2.5 squared times 9 is 56.25

56.25 time pie is about 176.625

1000/176.625=5.66

round down to 5 if a whole number is needed
