Answer:

Juvencio changed in several ways over the years. For many years after killing Don Lupe, Juvencio lived in fear of being discovered, apprehended, and probably being executed. He learned to conceal his pride and think about how to ensure his survival and that of his family. He could not let rage dominate reason as he had done when he sought revenge for his animals' death. He stayed alive by disguising himself and suppressing his feelings.

Slipping up one day and neglecting to behave humbly and inconspicuously, he made his presence known. This led to his being apprehended. No longer trying to take care of his family, he must ask his son to help save him. No longer arrogant, he must beg for his life.
