Explanation:

The rule for multiplying the same bases, but with different exponents, goes like this. Lets say you have four to the 5th power, and four to the 7th power. When you multiply them, the base will stay as four, but you will ADD the exponents! So, the answer to this would be four to the 12th power. This rule can even be applied when one, or even both of the exponents are negative! However, keep in mind that this can only be done when the base integers are the SAME.
