Well I’ve never read that story but I hope this will help...
Symbolism is a way to represent abstract ideas using a everyday item. For example doves represent peace and a rose represents love. Instead of the poet or author saying “the war finally ended and the kingdom was at peace” they’ll meantion doves flying over the characters.

Answer:

The house symbolizes mankind.

Step-by-step explanation:

In "There Will Come Soft Rains" Ray Bradbury portrays symbolism through the house, the mice, and the poem. All of these objects reflect mankinds use of technology. We are steering away from human interaction and our routines are becoming monotonous, mundane, technology-driven activities.
