The length of a rectangle is 5m more than twice the width, and the area of the rectangle is 52m2. find the dimensions of the rectangle.

Length = 13m

Explanation:

Let width = x

Length = 2x + 5

Area = 52 m²

length * width = 52

(2x + 5) * x = 52

2x *x + 5*x = 52

2x² +5x - 52 =0

2x² - 8x + 13x - 13*4 = 0

2x*(x - 4) + 13*(x - 4) = 0

(x - 4) (2x + 13) = 0

x - 4 = 0 {Ignore 2x + 13 = 0 as measurements will not be in negative}

x = 4 m

Width = 4 m

Length = 2*4 + 5 = 8+5 = 13m
