How does sex produce variation and diversity in a population?

Answer: Sexual reproduction creates variation and diversity in a population because the gametes (eggs and sperm) that are produced each contain a random assortment of genes from the parent. This, and, in meiosis, crossing over and independent orientation, lead to variation in a population. Hope that's helpful :D

First of all, sex is a type of sexual reproduction. It’s meiosis. In meiosis, it has different stages and one of those stages is called Prophase 1. In prophase 1, genetic variation occurs.
