A wave of air our vocal chords create. Helium is lighter then air so our vocal chords easily make the sound making the wavelengths change and makes our voice high pitched. Sulfur hexafluoride is heavier then air so it makes the wavelengths change because our vocal chords are struggling. When we want to say something our vocal chords push air.
