What could I have been trying to figure out? A.) The amount of paint you have left if you start with 2 cans and use 1/4 of a can to make 1 poster. B.) The amount of posters you can make with 2 cans of paint if you use 1/4 of a can of paint to make 1 poster. C.) The amount of paint you need to make 1 poster if you used 1/4 of a can to make 2 posters. D.) The amount of paint you need to make 2 posters if you used 1/4 of a can to make 1 poster.

What would be the most reasonable answer? Thank you I appreciate it if you answer Please!

Answer:

A) 7/4 cans of paint left, or 1 and 3/4 cans left

B) 8 posters

C) 1/8 of a can

D) 2/4 of a can or 1/2 of a can

Explanation:

A) You use 1/4 of a can to make a poster. if you just make 1 and start with 2 cans , that means you start with 8/4. so if you use up 1/4 you have 7/4 left. or 1 and 3/4.

B) Each poster takes 1/4 of a can of paint. With two cans just count by 1/4 until you get to 2. so 1/4 + 1/4 = 2/4 + 1/4 = 3/4 + 1/4 = 4/4 and so on. it works out that you can make a total of 8 posters.

This is also a division problem two cans of paint divided by 1/4 for each poster. it works out to 2*4 = 8, though if you do not know fraction multiplication/ multiplication that's fine. if you would like me to explain let me know.

C) 1/4 makes two. Assuming each poster uses the same amount, we would know 1 would take half of that. cutting 1/4 in half makes 1/8 so one poster takes 1/8 of a can of paint. so 1/8 for 1 poster.

D) 1/4 of a can of paint makes 1 poster. so two poster uses twice as much. 2/4 or 1/2 of a can of paint.
