SA = sum of all the areas of the sides

The pyramid has four faces, which we have to add together:

SA = 3(long face area) + base area

Area of a triangle = 1/2 base * height

Area of the base = 1/2 * 3.5 * 4 = 7 meters squared

Area of a long face = 1/2 * 8 * 4 = 16 meters squared

Coming back to our surface area formula, we can plug those areas in:

SA = 3(long face area) + base area

= 3(16) + 7 = 55 meters squared
