The grey part is equal to the area of the square minus the area of the “half circle”.
Square’s Area: 2cm x 2cm = 4cm^2.
Half Circle’s Area: (pi x r^2):2 =
= (3.14 x 1cm^2):2 = 1.57cm^2
Grey Part’s Area = (4 - 1.57)cm^2 = =2.43cm^2
