Let’s say the first number is x

The second number is 1 less than twice the first, that is 2x-1

The third number is 3 times the second meaning 3(2x-1)

Now let’s sum the numbers up to give 68

x + 2x - 1 + 6x -3 = 68

9x -4 = 68

9x = 68 + 4

9x = 72

x = 72/9

x = 8

The second number is 2x -1 = 2(8) - 1 = 16- 1 = 15

The third number is three times the second = 3(15) = 45
