$\\ \tt\hookrightarrow x+y=30\dots(1)$

$\\ \tt\hookrightarrow x-y=6\dots(2)$

Now

Add both equations

$\\ \tt\hookrightarrow 2x=36\implies x=18$

Put in eq(2)

$\\ \tt\hookrightarrow 18-y=6\implies y=12$
