The area of the shaded part is 31 inches²

Explanation:

Area of square = 12 x 12 = 144

Area of circle = 3.14r²

We know that the diameter is 12 inches, so 12 ÷ 2 = 6 which is our radius.

6 = r

3.14 x 6²

= 3.14 x 36

= 113.04

≈ 113 inches²

Now we just to to subtract the area of the circle for the from the area of a square to find out the area of the shaded part.

144 - 113 = 31

The area of the shaded part is 31 inches².
