Explanation:

Use the formula a squared + b squared = c squared. (a^2 + b^2 = c^2)

For number 17 first square both your side lengths of 12 and 35 to get 144 and 1225.

Then add them together to get 1369. That is your c^2 but now you have to find the square root to get your side length of c. Once you find the square root of 1369 you should get an answer of 37 for your missing side.

Using the same formula of a^2 + b^2 = c^2 you square the two side you’re given and get 576 + b^2 = 676

Since it gives you your a and c side lengths all you do is subtract your a from your c (676 - 576) to get 100 which is your b^2. Then you find the square root of 100, which is 10 because 10 times itself is 100, you’ll have your b side length of 10
