The reasoning is because the cotton gin did what the slaves were doing, but it did it faster. So the need for slaves reduced!

Answer:I think D makes the most sense

Explanation: before the cotton gin, the slaves would remove cotton fibers from the seeds by hand, the gotten gin would remove the fibers more quickly, so the cotton gin made the whole process just go faster
