Answer:

22 inches

Explanation:

The perimeter of a trapezoid is the sum of the lengths of its four sides. If one or more of the lengths is not known, you can sometimes use the Pythagorean Theorem to find it.

We draw the shape of trapezoid all have 6 sides

Two faces are trapezoids and four faces are rectangles

length = 3 inches

height = 5 inches

top side = x

bottom side = 2x (twice the size of top)

To find the perimeter, add the lengths of all four sides.

P=5+5+2x+x =3x + 10 units When we come back to this.

Finding x

if 3 is the midpoint length

We use 1/2

NB/ To undo multiplication 1/2 after we find the perimeter we can divide by half.

So this works together

We take p = H + 5

-5 = H

We plug in for area 3 x 5 = 15 + 15 = 30

So The top line = 4

The bottom x 2 = 8

As 30-5 = 25 we find 25

We add 4, 8, 5 + 5 and find 22 is the answer.

Now divide 22 - 5 by 1/2 half of 17 = 8.5

8 and half.

We have top 4, and 8 bottom.
