Who is your neighbor? The use of the question is a figure of speech in the sense that Jesus is using a parable to illustrate who our neighbor really is. Our neighbor is not supposed to be someone like yourself but someone who helps you without expecting anything in return. So not your actual “neighbor”.

Answer:

figure of speech "Who is your neighbour? " The use of the question is a figure of speech in the sense that Jesus is using a parable to illustrate who our neighbour really is. I found an outstanding article that delves into the background to this question and to how Jesus used the parable of the Samaritan as a good neighbour to teach us all a valuable lesson. Hope that helps you.
