Finding mean

To find the mean of a set of data you must add the data together then divide the sum by the number of data in the set.

Step 1: Adding together the data

12 + 7 + 8 + 10 + 9 + 8 + 15 = 69

Step 2: Count how many number there are in the data set

There are 7 numbers in this data set

Step 3: Divide the sum of the data by the number of data in the set

69 ÷ 7 ≈ 9.86

The mean of this data set is 9.86

Find the median

Median means middle. You must find the middle of this set of data. To do this you must first order the data from least to greatest:

7, 8, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15

Now on each "level" remove the largest and the smallest number until you get to the middle number(s)

7, 8, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15

8, 8, 9, 10, 12

8, 9, 10

9

The median of this data set is 9

Finding mode

Mode is the number that appears most often in the data set.

In this case the number 8 appears twice, while the other numbers only appear once.

This means that 8 is the mode

Hope this helped!
