Any projectile that is under the rules of gravity can be modeled by a parabola!

Picture a football player kicking the ball up: it will follow a parabolic orbit, and the vertex is the highest point it will reach.

Picture a roller coaster: it will most likely follow a parabolic orbit, with the vertex being that scary moment on the top of the roller coaster track.:)
