The diagonals of a rhombus are perpendicular bisectors of each other, so divide the rhombus into four congruent right triangles, each with legs 6/2=3 and 8/2=4. So the area is

area = 4 × (1/2) × 3 × 4 = 24

Answer: 24 sq cm
