The Cold War changed the lives of Americans in many ways, even though the war was very different from previous wars America had fought in. How did awareness of the conflict changed life in America? How can war affect citizens who are not fighting the war itself?

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

War, even the possibility of it, is an incredibly nerve wracking and traumatic thing. The Cold War was never "fought", per se, it was a war of distrust and uncertainty. The USSR and USA fought indirectly by supporting up and coming nations. The awareness of the possibility of nuclear war changed the habits of Americans everywhere. Bomb shelters were built, drills were run, and people looked anxiously at the news- wondering if that day would be their last day. War, even when you are not fighting in it, puts a tremendous toll on everyone.
