Given ↷

  • Top of the buliding = 4m
  • The distance between the rope knot from the buliding = 1m

To find↷

  • equation for the ropes height (y) at distance (x) from the building in standard from

Answer ↷

  • 4x+y=4

Solution↷

Let the equation be

\rightarrow y = mx + c

  • y = height of the buliding
  • x = distance from building
  • m = slope of equation

\huge\rightarrow \: m = (y' - y)/(x' - x) \\

  • (x,y) =(1,0)
  • (x'y') =(0,4)

\huge\rightarrow \: m = (4 - 0 )/(0 \: - 1) = - 4 \\

  • m = -4
  • y = mx+c
  • y = -4x+c
  • x= 0,y = 4
  • 4= -4 x 0 + c
  • c= 4

hence ,our equation would be,

\huge \rightarrow 4x + y = 4
