The length of a rectangle is the sum of the width and 4. The area of the rectangle is 32 units. What is the width, in units, of the rectangle

Width = w

length (l)= w+4

32 = w(w+4)

32 = w² + 4w

w² + 4w -32 =0

(w+8)(w-4)=0

w = -8 or w= 4

a negative width doesn’t make sense so therefore, the width must be 4 units
