Sharon drops a rubber ball from a night of 160 feet. Every bounce sends the ball half as high as it was before. What is the total vertical (up and down ) distance the ball has traveled, from the moment it is dropped to the moment it hits the floor for the fourth time?

Answer:

440 feet.

Explanation:

The first time it bounces down is 160, then when it bounces up again it becomes 80 feet, and so on. The equation is: 160+80+80+40+40+20+20, and that equals 440 feet.
