4. Kennedy and Tess are constructing a racetrack for their horses. The

track encloses a field that is rectangular, with two semicircles at each end.
A fence must surround this field. How much fencing will Kennedy and Tess
need? Use the PI button NOT 3.14. Round to the nearest tenth. Label your
answer for example "meters".

Answer:

3764.8 \:meters$ (to the nearest tenth)

Explanation:

The Length of fence needed will be the sum of the Length of the two rectangles and the two semicircles.

Perimeter of a Semicircle =
\pi r

Perimeter of Two Semicircles
=2\pi r

Radius of the Semicircle =302 รท 2 =151 m

Therefore:

Perimeter of the Two Semicircles at each end

=2\pi *151\\=302\pi \:meters

Length of the Two rectangular sides =1408+1408 =2816m

Therefore, Length of Fencing Needed

=302\pi +2816\\=3764.76 \\\approx 3764.8 \:meters$ (to the nearest tenth)
