Answer:

(- 4, - 5 )

Explanation:

Given the 2 equations

2x - y = - 3 → (1)

3x + 4y = - 32 → (2)

Multiplying (1) by 4 and adding to (2) will eliminate the term in y

8x - 4y = - 12 → (3)

Add (2) and (3) term by term to eliminate y

11x = - 44 ( divide both sides by 11 )

x = - 4

Substitute x = - 4 into either of the 2 equations for corresponding value of y

Substituting in (2) gives

3(- 4) + 4y = - 32

- 12 + 4y = - 32 ( add 12 to both sides )

4y = - 20 ( divide both sides by 4 )

y = - 5

Solution is (- 4, - 5 )
