How am I supposed to answer a problem like this:
y= x-8
y= 3x

Explanation:

you would set up the equation like this:

x-8 = 3x

then, isolate the x, like this

-8 = 3x-x

subtract x from 3x

-8 = 2x

divide each side by 2

-4 = x

and then you're done!
