Explanation:

These are vertical angles meaning that these are both the same angle. We can express this into an equation. (3x - 6) = 114, usually with an equation like this we add the 6 from (3x - 6) and also add it to 114 because whatever you do to one side of the equation you have to do to the other. Because we added 6 to (3x - 6) the 6 from there is gone and since we added 6 to 114 it is now 120 so now the equation is 3x = 120. Now we divide each side me 3 to get the value of x. 3x divided by 3 is x. 120 divided by 3 is 40. So now our equation looks like this, x=40. So this is how the value of x is 40.
