Please help I need to show each step for distributing the -1.

6. Simplify (5x^4 – 3x^2 + 7x – 10) – (2x^4 – 3x^3 + 6x – 17)

My steps and answer

 (5x^4 + 2x^4) - 3x^2 + (7x - 6x)+ (-10 - 17 ) - 3x^3

3x^4 - 3x^2 + x + 7 - 3x^3

Answer: 3x⁴ + x + 7

Explanation:

(5x⁴ - 3x² + 7x - 10) - (2x⁴ - 3x³ + 6x - 17)

Distribute the negative to the second expression, which means "change all of the signs" and then add the two expressions.

( 5x⁴ - 3x² + 7x - 10)

+ (-2x⁴ + 3x³ - 6x + 17)

= 3x⁴ + 0x³ + 1x + 7

= 3x⁴ + x + 7

Note: If you need to show work for distributing the negative sign, multiply each term of the second expression by -1.
