Is 4(y+3) equivalent to 4y +3?

Explanation:

because 4(y+3)= 4x3y=12y

and 4y+3=7

(im not sure if thats why or not but i think i know its not equivalent)

No. Because 4(y+3) would simplify into 4y+12 as for 4y+3 is already simplified.
