0.0009% is the same as 0.000009.

0.000009 x 5000 = 0.045

Explanation: To convert the percent to decimal, shift the decimal point two places to the left. .009% becomes .00009 Then multiply that by (of means multiply when you convert word problems to equations) 5000.

.00009 Ă— 5000 = .45 Quick on a calculator.

Old Style: 9 x 5000 = 45000. but since the 9 is in the 5th decimal place, you move the decimal 5 places to the left and end up with .45000 but you can drop the useless zeros to the right and put a zero to the left of the decimal for clarification-- in case someone doesn't notice the decimal point. 0.45
