A contractor on construction job specified a penalty for delay of completion beyond a certain date as: Rs.200 for the first day, Rs.250 for the second day, Rs300 for the third day and so on. The penalty for each succeeding day being Rs50 more than that of preceding day. How much money the contractor has to pay as penalty, if he has delayed the work by 30 days?

Can someone tell me the answer of this??

Additional Information :

  • Arithmetic progression (A.P.) is a sequence in which each term can be found by adding a certain quantity to its preceding term

Answer:

  • Rs 27750

Explanation:

The penalty for each day forms a sequence

  • 200, 250, 300, ...

This is an AP with the first term of 200 and common difference of 50

The sum of the first 30 terms is

  • S_(30)=30*(a_1+a_(30))/2=15(200+200+29*50) = 27750
