Answer:

16%

Explanation:

GIVEN: A sports shop sold
5000 baseball cards this year in a four month period from the 1st of April until the end of July.
30\% of the cards were sold in the month of May. There were
300 more cards sold during June than in July and
400 less cards were sold during April compared to July.

TO FIND: What percentage of cards were sold in April What percentage of cards were sold in April.

SOLUTION:

Total cards sold
=5000

Let total cards sold in July be
x

According to question

Cards sold in June
=300+x

Cards sold in April
=x-400

Total cards sold in may
=30\%\ of\ 5000=(30)/(100)*5000

=1500

Total cards sold
=x+300+x+x-400+1500=5000

\therefore 3x=3600\implies x=1200

cards sold in April
=x-400=1200-400\implies x=800

percentage of cards sold in April
=\frac{\text{cards sold in April}}{\text{total cards}}*100

=(800)/(5000)*100=16\%

Hence 16% of total cards were sold in April
