After the opening address by the Minister of Agriculture, the MC of the programme began reading out the long list of award winners in special categories such as best farmer in fish farming, horticulture, cash crops, etc. After, the programme was paused for musical display by the Winniba Youth Choir.The final part of the award began in earnest. Mum jumped so high that her head nearly touched the stand’s roof. As for daddy, he was just beating his chest chanting, “Yes! Yes!”The vice president then shook daddy’s hand before presenting to him, the first prize which was a brand new KIA pick up and a key to a three-bedroom house. All the family crowded around daddy. Everyone was happy except Little Danny who was crying because he was scared of the military guards at the scene. Uncle Kofi carried him piggyback and he grew calm. We all snapped pictures with the vice president and other award winners. In fact, I can’t in my own words describe how elated dad was at this moment but yesterday, I took a peek into his dairy, and it read: I felt like a king when the army played that tune in my honour. But this feat wasn’t chalked on a silver platter. It was a result of hard work and dad says he is grateful to everyone for their support. As for mum, I’m sure she will celebrate the day annually.Well, I guess I have to end now.
