B.) The United States purchased Florida from Spain.

Spain and America signed the Adams-Onis treaty where they have Florida to the US and renounced their claim to it. In return, the US recognized the Spanish claim over Texas.

Although many supported the treaty, some didn’t because it was regarded as a useless land due to dense swamps, humid climate, and mosquitoes
