The original blueprint for the Morenos living

room has a scale of 2 inches
5 feet, The family
wants TO use a new blueprint that shows the
length of the living room to be 15 inches. If
the width of the living room on the original
blueprint is 6 inches and the length is 9.6 inches,
what are the scale and the width of the new
blueprint?

Answer:

new width=9.375 in

new scale= 1 foot= 0.4 inches

Explanation:

Firstly to find the width we can set up a proportion:


(x)/(15) =
(6)/(9.6), after solving for x, x= 9.375, which gives us our width.

To find the new scale, we knew that the old scale was 2 in=5 feet, or 1 in=2.5 feet, so to find the new one we can also set a new proportion,


(1)/(2.5) = (15)/(x)

After solving you will get x= 37.5, so 15 inches= 37.5 feet, but to simplify we can divide,

15/37.5= 0.4
