The older sibling has always been looked at as a third parent when the mum and dad aren’t around. The younger siblings develop a sense of trust for the older sibling that would’ve the similar one they would have for the parents, and parents have been and are always trusted in being the protectors of their children. To explain it further, older siblings are also the people you would want to go to when going to the parents seems intimidating. They tend to be more understanding and helpful which adds to the trust. They are there when you need them and are willing to guide you with whatever you need help in. Therefore, all these facts combined result to the conclusion the older sibling serves the role of protector in the younger sibling’s eyes.
