Saying "y=", is just like saying "0=", so we can say that;

0=4x-9

We need to isolate the variable, and to do that we should add 9 to both sides and cancel it out.

9=4x

Now we need to eliminate the coefficient by dividing both sides by four


9/4=4x/4

Which cancels out four, giving us

2.25=x
