Locomotor movements are those which helps a body to "move from one place to another". The basic locomotor movements include walking, running, jumping, leaping etc. These can be done with even or uneven rhythm.

Non-locomotor movements are axial movements which move certain body parts but do not facilitate any change of position or travel from one place to another. These include movements involving flexing, bending, extending, rotating, swinging, swaying etc.

Sending movement is used to throw the ball. The mechanics of sending movement imparts force into the object which is the ball. Movements like underarm or overarm throwing or striking are sending movements.

Receiving movements in softball includes catching and collecting movements by the hand.

Evading movements include dodging, screening, or faking movements to evade the opposite player.

Coordination of muscles of trunk and legs are highly necessary for pitching softball. Coordination of motor skills plays an important role in softball.
