Answer:1)x =-30

2)x=-30

Step-by-step explanation: 1: 2(3x+5)=5(x-4) ( remove the parenthesis)

then 6x+-5x=-20x-10 (collect the like trems calulate) so (-20 and -20 on each side) the x=-20-10.

2: 6x+10=5x-20 (move the like trems) so move the variable to the left hand side and change its sign like this 6x+10-5x=-20

6x-5x=-20-10

x=-20-10 which it ='s x=-30

Solving Stepwise:

  • 2(3x+5) = 5(x-4) [ Given ]
  • 2(3x)+2(5) = 5(x) -5(4) ---------------
  • 6x + 10 = 5x - 20 [ Distributive property ]
  • 6x + 10 - 5x = 5x -20 -5x ---------------
  • x + 10 = -20 [ subtraction property of equality ]
  • x + 10 -10 = -20 -10 -------------
  • x = -30 [ subtraction property of equality ]

Additional Explanation

Distributive property:

  • a(b+c) = a(b) + a(c)

symmetric property of equality:

  • both sides can be interchanged, x = y, then y = x

subtraction property of equality:

  • when same number subtracted from both sides, a - c = b - c

closure property:

  • addition, subtraction and multiplication of integers, a + b = c

division property of equality:

  • when both sides divided by same number, a/c = b/c
