Confucius specifically, influenced society by his philosophy, Confucianism. After he died, the philosophy was brought into every day life. Some of the beliefs were treat others the way you want to be treated, respect your elders, etc.

When it came to government, civil service workers were needed during this time. As first, the most qualified men were civil servants. But, Confucianism was able to recreate this system, and an exam based on a Confucianism could be taken by all men to become a civil servant.
